Halal Caramel Flan Recipe Ingredients

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 3/4 cup water
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 (12 oz) can evaporate milk
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a small saucepan, combine the sugar and water and bring to a boil over medium heat. Cook, stirring constantly, until the sugar has dissolved and the mixture has thickened to a caramel consistency.
  3. Pour the caramel into a 9-inch round baking dish. Set aside.
  4. In a large bowl, whisk together the sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, eggs, and vanilla extract.
  5. Pour the milk mixture over the caramel in the baking dish.
  6. Place the baking dish in a larger roasting pan. Fill the roasting pan with enough hot water to come halfway up the sides of the baking dish.
  7. Bake the flan for 45-50 minutes, or until it is set and the top is golden brown.
  8. Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool to room temperature. Cover the flan with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or overnight.
  9. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan to loosen it from the sides of the dish. Invert the flan onto a serving plate and slice it into wedges. Enjoy!
