Osmow’s Shawarma Barrie
Upon arrival in Canada from Egypt, I had one goal: to be successful. I worked different jobs, like pumping gas and retail. But my true passion was always food. So finally, I saved enough money and bought a restaurant in 1999.
Two years passed, but my business did not achieve the success I had expected. Then, one day, one of my customers asked what I had for lunch. The aroma and flavor sat him down on the table. It was shawarma.
As a result of his encouragement, I closed the sub shop. Within a week, I painted and rebranded the first Osmow’s Shawarma. I love every minute of this journey, even when it wasn’t easy.
At our restaurant Osmow’s Shawarma Barrie, you’ll find everything from mouthwatering rice dishes to delicious succulent kebabs.
Traditionally, shawarma consists of lamb, mutton, or chicken cut into thin strips stacked in cone-like shapes. It is then roasted on a rotisserie. It may also be made with turkey, beef, or pork. The Arabic word shawarma refers to a rotating rotisserie, an Arabization of the Turkish word.
Originally from the Ottoman Empire, shawarma is a popular Middle Eastern dish that is rich in protein. In addition, it is often flavored with spices such as cumin and coriander, both of which contain antioxidants.
You must try several Egyptian favorites at Osmow’s Shawarma Barrie, including shawarma, hummus, taboule, fatoush salad, Caesar salad, and Greek salad.
