Mean Poutine Ajax: A young ambitious BC Lions football player, Sherko Haji-Rasouli, decided to open his own restaurant in 2011. As we searched for the most suitable location, we stumbled upon a space in the Granville entertainment district. Why not feed Granville’s party people hotdogs and poutine, the irresistible combination?
With his partner, Jon Hameister-Ries, he came up with the ultimate late-night food menu to satisfy the insatiable crowd. Using classic Quebecois poutine and west coast innovation, an innovative creation was born.
Dedicated to serving the most delicious poutine in Vancouver, the Haji-Rasouli family worked tirelessly around the clock to make Mean Poutine a tourist and local favorite.
It was early in 2018 that Rustin Jafari, Sherko’s cousin and former football player, decided to serve Mean Poutine to East Coast people, explicitly the GTA and Ajax. Our excitement about bringing the number one poutine to Ajax was fueled by the name’s popularity throughout North America.
It took a lot of hard work, but we managed it with the help of family, and we are extremely happy with the outcome. Our family retained the business, and we will serve the same award-winning recipes used in Vancouver, along with some exciting and innovative menu items.
The concept of poutine is something we are passionate about, and we are eager to reinvent it. Handcrafted recipes, top-quality ingredients, and incredible flavors! We also offer halal options. Starting at $8.99, our Halal poutines include Classic Poutine, Fried Chicken Poutine (favorite), Chili Poutine, Mean and Green (veg), Philly Cheese Steak, Cheeseburger, and Mean Mexicana.
Others include Mamas Mean Meatballs, Southern BBQ, Mean Supreme (favorite), Pierogi Poutine (veg), and Fish and Chips. You can customize the poutine for $10 and above depending on your toppings.
